TERM01
TERM 01 is a small, generally applicable terminal enabling transmitting, receiving and displaying needed data using a serial communication line. It is designed for industrial use and it can be applicable anywhere, where there is a need for monitoring and modifying parameters or controlling control systems, machines and equipment. An alphanumeric four-lines LCD display of a transreflex design with an additional illumination using LED diodes is used for data displaying. It has a membrane keyboard with defined key pressure.
The terminal TERM 01 is supplied in several designs that differ in an internal equipment, a membrane keyboard key number, a communication interface type and an electric cord type. The terminal uses a resource of stabilised feeding current +5V or 9 - 12 V DC. The feeding voltage is supplied jointly with the communication lines employing a shielded cable that is equipped with a 9-pin connector Canon. If the terminal is linked to the control system KITV40, it can be conveniently fed with +5V electric current that is available on the RS232 interface connectors.
A software package is included into the terminal supply. The software makes possible to display received data on a display and, conversely, to transmit codes of the pressed keys. The terminal set-up regime can be started by hitting the SHIFT-ENTER keys for defining its parameters, i.e. a transmittal speed, a number of information bits, parity of transferred data, a code generated by the keyboard and duration of a display illumination period.
The SofCon® Ltd. software supports the terminal use. A communication library is available for connecting the terminal with a PC as well as a library realising a virtual terminal. The library contains services for reading and writting symbols on the display, services for reading symbols from the keyboard and services for editing symbols displayed in an active, predefined window. A library containing a TERM 01 terminal simulator for a PC computer, is also available.
The TERM 01 terminal is controlled using an internal processor control unit. It was designed with a respect to its possible using with a user’s own software. So, a user can create a control station from the terminal with using own software such a control station is able to communicate using a serial line.
